Don’t miss this chance to be a part of the Central Team. Text Box: The Western Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church has just completed its session in Portland. They elected two bishops to fill one retirement and one resignation.  Bishop Grant Hagiya comes from the Calif.-Pacific Annual Conference (covering southern Ca. and Pacific islands) and has been assigned to the Seattle area.  He was one of Kien Srey’s professors at the Claremont School of Theology. Bishop Elaine W. Stanovsky, who has been appointed to the Denver area, has served many years in the Pacific Northwest Conference (Seattle area and Alaska). Bishop Warner Brown comes to serve the Calif.-Nevada A.C. as our bishop this September.

 

 

 

With the help of PG&E, Central's electric transformer installation on the east side of the Knoles Building has been painted and is no longer rusty.  Special thanks to a PG&E employee who went beyond his normal duties and painted the channel beam, inside the chain link fence, which carries power from the transformers to the control box.  The remainder of the painting project to cover the rusty metal was completed by CUMC volunteers.

Central has its own small connection to Red Skelton who’s being remembered in our Aug. 3 program.  Our late and beloved Parish Nurse Joane Buck’s maiden name was Skelton—they were shirt-tail cousins!  Those of you familiar with Joane’s quirky sense of humor can readily see that it must have run in that family’s genes.
