At Central United Methodist Church, we are a reconciling congregation of compassionate, caring and committed Christians,

and we welcome everyone to participate in our worship and ministries.

Within our faith community, all are nurtured and supported in their own personal faith journeys.

         Questioning Capital Punishment

Beginning last Sunday, July 20th, and continuing for five Sunday mornings, a DVD adult study, featuring Sister Helen Prejean one of the world’s leading authorities and outspoken critic of state-sponsored execution, is being offered from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. in Room 14 of the Knoles Building.

A Roman Catholic Sister and leading American advocate for the abolition of the death penalty, Sister Helen has ministered to numerous inmates on Death

Row, and has authored two books based on these experiences, Dead Man Walking and The Death of Innocents:  An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions.  She is the founder of the Death Penalty Discourse Center in New Orleans.

Alan England, a retired probation officer and Marriage and Family Counselor known to many of you, and El Hoffman will serve as your facilitators.  All interested adults are invited to participate in this unique adult discussion and conversation series.

The Crafters group of United Methodist Women will meet again on July 29th at 1:00 p.m. to create items for the Holiday Bazaar.  We have several hand-made Christmas ornaments that we plan to duplicate for the Bazaar.  Come and join us!  We meet in the Knoles Building, Room 6.  Questions?  Call Meg Estrada at 472-0188.

The Sunday Evening Bible Study will return from its July vacation beginning on August 3rd.  The Bible Study meets each Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room.

For the first four Sundays in August (August 3, 10, 17, 24) the group will focus on the scripture readings for the following Sunday.  This will help Pastor Dave figure out what to preach about!

EVERYONE is welcome to attend the Bible Study.  No previous experience needed.  It is fun, informative, and now . . . Pressuring the Pastor!  What could be more exciting?  Join us on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room
