POSITION OPEN FOR PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT

 

This position is extended to students in general and  who may be majoring in nursing, pre-     physical or occupational therapy professions.

Position:  Personal Care Assistant

Location: University of the Pacific

Work Schedule:  Weekends 4 hours per day, totaling 8 hours per weekend.

 

Description:

Mild assistance to a wheel chair-using university freshman student attending University of the Pacific in Stockton. Tasks would include assisting in dressing, transferring from the wheel chair to certain platforms including shower chair, wheel chair, and toilet. A 4-year old laboratory retriever serves as an assistance dog.   

 

Personal assistance also includes reaching items the student cannot, replenishing supplies, light house work, including light meal preparation and errands. The shifts will be scheduled  allowing for holiday breaks; the  student lives in an apartment on campus and has PCA’s during the week.

 

Qualifications: Student in good standing, who are non-smokers a minimum  of  5’5” in height. Transfer skills can be taught depending on the applicant’s overall skills. Knowledge of hygiene and simple meal preparation, a love of the arts, as well as conversation would be a bonus!

Job start:  ASAP

            Pay rate:   $15.00     ($16.75  per hour  including CA SDI, US Medicare/HI and Social              Security/OASDI). Take home $15.00 per hour.

                                               Saturday and Sunday the hours total  4 hours. The shifts are throughout                                                  the day:

Wake up:8:30 AM- 1 hour; bathroom, dress, housekeeping jobs

                11:00 AM- 30 minutes, bathroom break, misc

                  3 PM- 30 mins bathroom break

                  6 PM-  30 mins Bathroom break

                  9:00 PM  30 Bathroom

               10:30 PM   1 hour  Ready for bed
