Text Box: Greetings Central Church Members and Friend, The Grace and Peace of Christ to you and yours. I write this in the midst of a very hectic time. Annual Conference is next week and I chair the Commission which facilitates our time together. As we all have experienced in these situations – if something can go wrong, it will. And it has, but so far, not too dramatically. Praise God! Life at Central is flying along. The new phone system is working (although with a few bugs to get worked out). We’ll get it completely up and running very soon (Connie told me. And, I believe her). Preliminary planning is moving forward on the cell tree to be constructed in our “back forty”. Final plans should soon be approved by the city with construction to begin by the end of the summer. I am very grateful to the Staff Parish Relations Committee (and to Jackie) for supporting my request to attend the Internship in the Art of Spiritual Direction at the Mercy Center during the month of July. I will be away for nearly all of the month. “The purpose of spiritual direction is to help people become aware of the mystery of God’s presence and action in human experience, and to assist them in making a fuller and freer response to it” (Suzanne Buckley in Sacred is the Call). During this training I will have the opportunity to work with a world renowned faculty in this specialized program offering training to those interested in spiritual direction. It will be a great addition to my ministry. It will be a privilege to share these new skills with my Central Church family.
