Terrific Tuesdays:

NEW BOOK STUDY

Sandra Exelby will lead a new book study group at Central.  The study will feature Eckhart Tolle’s book A New Earth – Awakening To Your Life’s Purpose. Join us on Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 pm.  We will plan to end at 5:00 pm.    If you don’t have your book already, I know Barnes and Noble has some.  Because parking is limited in Sandra’s neighborhood, the group will meet at Central UMC in the Fireside Room.  Plenty of parking!

Wonder Full Wednesdays:

6:00 - 7:00 pm Agape Feast

What are you doing Wednesday evenings beginning June 25? We hope your plans will include the Concerts in the Park Series.

The Agape group has decided to meet in Victory Park every Wednesday beginning June 25 through August 20 to enjoy conversation and music. Bring your picnic and folding chairs or a blanket and look for the group from Central. We will be set up as early as 5:30 p.m. The concerts begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m. If you don’t want to bring a picnic just bring a blanket or chairs. It’s anevent for EVERYONE!

7:00-8:30 pm The Wednesday Book Group

Theological arguments never end.   Some of us have long suspected that the particulars of one’s beliefs are secondary to what we do with those beliefs:  all debates aside, Jesus was clear that we have a duty to serve the poor and hungry.   Evangelical, thirty-something Shane Claiborne’s The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical recounts his faith community’s mission to walk Jesus’ talk.  The book is an easy read, but one that challenges assumptions about what it is to be a practicing Christian.

Join us on Wednesday nights at 7:00 in The Library for our journey.

Thought-provoking Thursdays:

7:00 - 8:00 pm The Women's Book Group

The Thursday Women’s Book Group is studying the book Misquoting Jesus.  Join this group every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Library in the Knoles Building.

Fridays:
Stimulating Saturdays:

2nd Saturday of each month (weather permitting):

This is one of Central's newest groups. Happy Feet! meets at a different location each month.

The group has walked through the campuses of University of the Pacific and Delta College, as well as University Park at CSU Stanislaus. Some people bring their dogs, but that is not necessary.

These walks are always interesting and friendly.

Sacred Sundays:
There are opportunities to learn and broaden our knowledge before and after worship services:
9:45 -10:45 am:

QUESTIONING CAPITAL PUNISHMENT

A Roman Catholic Sister and leading American advocate for the abolition of the death penalty, Sister Helen has ministered to numerous inmates on death

Row, and has authored two books based on these experiences, Dead Man Walking and The Death of Innocents:  An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions.  She is the founder of the Death Penalty Discourse Center in New Orleans .

Alan England, a retired probation officer and Marriage and Family Counselor known to many of you, and El Hoffman will serve as your facilitators.  All interested adults are invited to participate in this unique adult discussion and conversation series.

5:30 - 7:00 pm

The Sunday Evening Bible Study is led by Dave Bennett and at the present time is studying the book of Exodus.  This group meets in a relaxed setting in the Fireside Room of the Knoles Building.
